Night Watch Investment Management is named after the famous painting by the Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn. Not because we’re a fan of art, but because The Night Watch was painted in Amsterdam in 1642, at the peak of the Dutch ‘Golden Age’. During this period The Netherlands prospered on the back of open trade and scientific developments.

The painting depicts the Dutch ‘Schutterij’, or Civic Guard Militia. The Schutterij was a voluntary city guard tasked with the protection of their city in case of an attack, revolt or fire.
